RedBox DVD:
The world of DVD rentals has turned upside
down thanks to the national favorite, Red
Box. The DVD rental company that is a
subsidiary of the McDonalds Corporation
revolutionized the DVD rental business with
its launch in 2004. Back then, this fully
automated rental brought two new concepts to
the business. First, the fact that it was
completely automated and second, you could
return a DVD to any RedBox outlet anywhere
in the country. These two ideas are the
reason it has grown so fast.
Today, there are 22,000 kiosks all over
America
allowing you to rent premium DVDs at 1$ per
DVD and return them to any outlet. Now you
do not have to pay late fees because you had
to travel on emergency. You can simply take
the DVD along and drop it off at the next
RedBox outlet. RedBox provides this facility
at the same or even lower price than many
local rental stores.

Although the advantages of RedBox are many
it however, has one small disadvantage. The
number of disks that a RedBox kiosk can hold
is 600 and the database can only store up to
200 movies. This means that if you are a fan
of the classics or just want to watch a
release from a few years back, you will have
to visit your local rental. Another issue
with RedBox is the fact that it still
depends on discs. This means that the movies
that they rent are a few days older than the
release dates. Therefore, if you are
searching for a brand new title, you will
have to wait a while or catch it in a
theatre near you.
Regardless of the issues with RedBox, it is
still a great cheap rental service with the
backing of a giant corporation. Its service
outweighs its disadvantages and that is what
makes it a great DVD rental outlet.
